Vacation in Estonia
The previous week and the ongoing week were so busy and hectic, that I barely got time to write this post. But I got myself together and still did it. So since my vacation back home, in Estonia, took a little bit longer than expected. Nevertheless, I regret nothing, because it was a wonderful and relaxing experience. But now, entirely back in business, doing a full time internship and working at the same time, I was thinking of looking back a bit and writing a throwback post about my summer holidays.
So, as starters, I am just a countryside boy and originally I am coming from a tiny town called Paide, which is in the middle of Estonia. I think it is always great to go back home and just relax at the countryside and to see parents and old friends, who, some of them, has also moved back to the countryside just for the vacation. This time I spent knowingly a lot more time together with close ones and with my parents and especially with my niece Lisanne, who is already a year and 3 months old little baby girl. She is growing and getting smarter so fast, which is of course happiness but a bit sad for me because I can?t be a part of it on daily basis. At least there is Skype and all the other platforms to keep myself updated.
But going back home for a vacation reminds me of the nice and cute childhood memories and really gets me in a good state of mind. As you may already notice, my idea is to tell a bit about myself in every post, so you, the reader, would get a bit more of a personal insight.
Now, getting back to the main topic. Back home I was so overwhelmed with different activities and events that, honestly, it even is hard to count them up. But one thing worth a mention was canoeing in the south of Estonia. This is, I could say, a true and great experience and a marvelous way to feel and see Estonian nature from another perspective. One can really see the wild side of the nature and of course the beautiful views. This activity is usually combined with an even more relaxing sauna time and just hanging around. Sauna is a must have in the summer time, personally for me. Without that, I can not even imagine a decent summer.
With Estonian summer, one of the best things about it is that the days are super long and the sun is up a very long time. Usually, the weather does not disappoint too, but this summer the weather was quite bad and rainy, unfortunately. However, the adventure that followed (and luckily was not ruined by rain), was a short trip to Pärnu, which is a really famous summer resort in Estonia. People are going there to sunbathe and swim in the sea, which is a pretty basic thing to do, but definitely worth the time. It is an another must have if you are planning to visit Estonia during the summer time.
Estonia is the country that has truly amazing nature and the views that can be seen are just breathtaking. There are so many places and, especially, some areas that are untouched by humans. For example, bogs. These are quite rare in most of the Euorpe, yet, Estonia is covered with swamps and bogs for about 40%. I had fun and a loose picnic together with my friends at really close bog to our homes, where we went by bikes.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Estonia if wouldn’t have gone to Tallinn many times. Generally, to visit my friends and just to try many different and new places to eat out. Tallinn is also really exciting in the summer, because there are so many different places to go, events and activities to attend. One of my best experiences in Tallinn was to have a lunch with one of my friends at Rataskaevu 16 restaurant. I could say that I have experienced one of the greatest customer service so far.
One thing that I really know for sure – I cannot imagine a summer vacation without spending at least some time in Estonia. Seriously, nothing, in my opinion, can beat the nice atmosphere there in the summer time. So, if you are planning to visit Estonia or just created this idea in your mind, do it, especially during the summer months.
